Future Cities and Environment journal is launching a competition to find the two best Review papers from Early Career Researchers, aiming for publication in 2021. Selected papers will be published open access, with the Article Processing Charge (APC) being 100% waived.
We are now inviting all ECR students to submit high-quality review articles on topics including:
The deadline for submissions is now extended to 31st March 2021.
All submissions will be sent for external peer review, with the best two papers being selected by a panel from the Editorial Board. These papers will be accepted for publication (pending revisions) with no APC applied. All papers not selected as ‘winners’ but considered of high quality will be offered the option to continue the editorial process (APC applicable) or to withdraw their paper.
Please mention your application to this competition in the cover letter during the submission process so that it is officially entered.

We are pleased to announce that Professor Terry Payne will provide a conference travel grant to eight FULL-TIME postgraduate students (PhD) who can demonstrate academic excellence through the quality of their research. With the help of Professor Terry Payne’s generous donation, SET 2020 organisers are offering free registration PLUS £500 to help cover costs of international travel (economy flights) and hotel accommodation.
The evaluation process will be conducted by Professor Terry Payne and SET 2020 organising committee. Evaluation of applications will consider the information submitted. The Executive Committee of the International Conference on Sustainable Energy Technologies have regretfully decided to postpone SET 2020 to 17-19 August 2021 in Istanbul, Turkey. This decision has been taken following current circumstances and restrictions on international travel.
All abstracts / papers that have already been submitted will be carried over to next year.

uture Cities and Environment is looking for high-quality submissions to be published in early 2019. The journal publishes multi-disciplinary research aiming to reduce the environmental impact of cities. Research areas include transport, urban planning, architecture and design, and energy and infrastructure. We publish fundamental and applied research, critical reviews and case studies, including experimental development, demonstration and computer modelling. The journal encourages data publication, alongside research. The journal is currently under consideration with Scopus

SET 2019 is already being planned and has released a call for papers. The conference will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 20th to 22nd August 2019. The conference organisers are inviting contributions that focus on sustainable energy technologies, which have not been previously published.

SET 2018 – the 17th International Conference on Sustainable Energy Technologies – will be held in Wuhan, 21-23 August 2018. The conference will be hosted by Hubei University of Technology and will be held in a convention centre close to 4/5 star hotels, malls, restaurants and bars. Wuhan’s economic strength is ranked 9th among all Chinese cities. Some of the places to visit are Yellow Crane Tower, East Lake and Hubei Provincial Museum. We are planning to take a river cruise on the Wuhan Yangtze River.
We have invited eminent keynote speakers to give lecture on topics including:
Wuhan is close to Shanghai. You will have the opportunity to see this vibrant city and also visit several interesting places such as The Bund, Shanghai Tower (world’s second tallest building), Yu Garden, Shanghai Museum, Shanghai Circus and Jade Buddha Temple.
The deadline for abstract submissions is 5th March 2018. All WSSET members will receive a 20% discount on the conference registration fees.
Selected papers will be published in several international journals including: International Journal of Low-Carbon Technologies, Future Cities and Environment, Renewable Bioresources, Applied Thermal Engineering and International Journal of Energy Research .
